Questions Clients Ask Before Starting

Before anyone commissions a handcrafted piece, there is usually a quiet back-and-forth that never makes it into the product description. People want to know how long the work takes, whether the colors will hold, and what happens if the weave loosens or a glaze chips. These are fair questions, and the answers shape how we work with each customer.

The most common question is about timelines. A block-printed throw takes about ten days from the dye bath to the final wash. A set of ceramic dinner plates needs two firings and a cooling period in between, so the whole process rarely finishes in under three weeks. We give honest estimates at the start, and we send a note when the piece moves from the workshop to the courier.

Another frequent concern is color accuracy. Natural dyes behave differently on cotton than on linen, and the same indigo bath can produce two slightly different shades on consecutive days. We photograph every piece in daylight before it ships, and we describe the variation honestly in the listing. If a customer needs a precise match for an existing interior, we recommend ordering a small swatch first.

Care instructions come up more often than people expect. Woven baskets should be dusted with a dry cloth and kept away from direct sunlight. Brass accents develop a patina over time, which some customers love and others want to prevent. We include a care card with every order, and we are always happy to answer follow-up questions by email.

What Happens After You Place an Order

Once an order is confirmed, the workshop receives the details and begins the work. You will get a confirmation within two working days, followed by a progress update when the piece is halfway done. Shipping takes three to five days within India, and we provide a tracking number as soon as the parcel leaves the studio.

If something arrives damaged or does not match the description, we replace it or offer a refund within seven days of delivery. We ask for a photo of the issue so we can address it with the workshop directly. This keeps the process simple and holds us to the same standard we expect from our own suppliers.

  • Timelines are quoted per piece, not per order, because each craft has its own rhythm.
  • Color variation is part of the handmade character, and we document it before shipping.
  • Care instructions are included with every delivery, and we answer questions by email.
  • Returns are accepted within seven days for damaged or misdescribed items.

If you are still deciding whether a handcrafted piece fits your home, the best way to find out is to ask us directly. We can walk you through the materials, the making process, and the practical details of caring for the piece once it arrives.
